Climbing Kilimanjaro

Julie Baldwin, a teacher at Nailsea School, is currently in training so that she can climb Kilimanjaro whilst raising money for the Livingstone Tanzania Trust.

I am sure you all know that Kilimanjaro is the highest free standing mountain in the world and the tallest mountain in Africa. A climb that takes you through 5 climate zones.

It is a very difficult climb and requires huge amount of stamina and determination. It is not a stroll in the park.  Be under no illusion this is a huge personal challenge.

She is climbing in October 2010 and is training each week to face her 6 days of non stop uphill walking, climbing, clambering.

Human Rights Day

Julie asked the Livingstone Tanzania Trust to come and visit the school on the 9th December 2009 to talk about poverty, food security and education as part of their Human Rights Day. This was a very exciting day with great enthusiasm from the students and teachers and we were delighted to be involved.

The Livingstone Tanzania Trust want all the young people to understand what poverty means to people in Tanzania and to understand that it does not need to be this way, poverty can be alleviated and we are showing practical steps as to how.
