Serengeti

The hard ground shakes as the migrating wildebeest (over 1 million of them) charge this way and that, weaving their way across the great Serengeti plains following the rains and the new grass. From December to May they find home in the east, towards the Ngorongoro Crater; where with food a plenty they give birth to the next generation. As the land dries at the end of the long rains the migration starts in a westerly direction towards Lake Victoria, where the rains tend to last longer. Only by constantly seeking new pastures can the great herds survive. In July the rains move north, generated by the rift valley wall and the migration follows up to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya. As the rains return in December to the Ngorongoro area the migration loop is completed. The great circle of life.

The vast plains, huge skies are only interrupted the solitary acacia trees and the kopjes. The scenery is simply breathtaking.
