wood treatment

Why treat the wood?

Termites eat the support beams

There is a large termite problem in this part of Tanzania and termites love to eat wood. Wood is used primarily to support the roof. The termites, like woodwork, eat the wood which weakens it and increases the potential for the wood to no longer be able to support the weight of the roof.

As in the case of the kindergarten, one just of wind was enough to lift the roof away from the rotten wood. No one was injured but it there was the potential for injury.

Taking preventative course of action is therefore the best course of action and all wood is now treated prior to construction. However some wood has been used without being treated and this now needs to be treated. This is a one-off project costing £50
