St Dunstan’s College

We are delighted that St Dunstan’s College in Catford London agreed to work with us, through Inspire Worldwide.
St Dunstan’s have raised the target of £9000 target to build a much needed classroom on the existing foundations at the Sinai School, Babati.
The Sinai School is a Community based government school where the community simply do not have the funds to meet the growing needs of the school. This means that some classroom have over 100 students in them. When we think that education is the best tool to fight poverty, students in a year group of that size are being offered a blunt tool.

More than just fund raising however, 12 students and 2 teachers came out to Babati from 14th to 29th October 2011 with Inspire Worldwide team leaders Andy and Alix and build the walls and floors of the classroom in just 8 days. They also witnessed what life is like for young people in Babati and learn about a life without material possessions.
This was such an exciting project where all parties gain from the experience.

Whilst most of the pre-departure training was provided by Inspire Worldwide, we also went along and ran a session on Poverty. What poverty means globally and what it means to the people we work with. Leading on from that we explained that the project that the school are sponsoring covers only one aspect of poverty because the school cannot address all the aspects. this is our presentation poverty in the community.
Here is the St Dunstan’s Trip Report 2011 from Inspire.
