Costs
Tanzania is awash with unskilled labour, so the idea of asking volunteers to come and help may seem odd at first. The reason that the buildings are not renovated or built is not due to lack of labour, but due to lack of funds. By coming to volunteer with us, you are not only helping us with the work but you are paying for it. Your donation pays for the cement, the bricks, the local labour etc. Without it and without you, the work would never be done.
This donation to the project costs can of course be fund raised for. You could do any number of sponsored activities or write letters to sympathetic friends, family and colleagues to could help you raise the minimum donation level or more. We have lots of fund raising ideas that can help you. You can set up a special page on our bmycharity.com website.
We have broken down the costs into separate element so that you can tailor your trip to meet you own needs.

The costs are broken down in the next section, but just remember that volunteers travelling at the same time can share and this brings the prices down.
- We can arrange for a car to collect you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer you (1 hour) to the bus stop in Arusha where the driver can assist you buy a ticket on the next bus to Babati. The Mtei buses are a real experience, it is 3 hours to Babati and you will meet all sorts of locals. It is a great way to start the trip. Have your locked luggage put in the holds under the coach and keep your day bag with you. Keep a look out for games as you drive between the Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks. We can provide you with a map of Babati to help you find your way to the Kahembe Guest house where we are based.
- We can arrange for a safari company to collect you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and drive you all the way to Babati. These 7 seated cars are very comfortable
- We might be able to collect you in the LTT car. This will depend on what we are doing at the time and whether we need it. Our car has benches rather than seats and any available space will be used to collect provisions from Arusha!
Accommodation options
There are two types of accommodation available because some may want a rural experience while others value a real bed and western style toilet. This is your experience and we want it to be fun for you.
